Hemorrhoid - Walk Off in a Day With Hemorrhoid Laser Therapy

By Ryan English

Hemorrhoids laser surgery is the process of using a laser to induce electrical currents to a patient's hemorrhoidal vein. Through this procedure blood's flow to hemorrhoid is stopped thus lessening problematic symptoms. During the surgery, the moment a laser probe sends an electrical current to the hemorrhoid, a chemical reaction starts taking place which help stopping flow of blood to the hemorrhoid. This results in shrinking of hemorrhoid and swollen hemorrhoid dries up. In this process the unwanted hemorrhoid is simply removed. Now, with latest advancement in technologies even electric current is not induced. With very precise laser beam of infinitely minuscule proportions, the affected hemorrhoid is simple burnt away or excised. The associated pain in this modified treatment is also very less compared to laser probe. This laser provides sharp accuracy for burning away or removing various types of hemorrhoids.

This altogether eliminates the inflammation problem. Hemorrhoid laser surgical procedure is predominantly used on external hemorrhoids rather than internal hemorrhoids. The recovery which used to be quite painful with laser coagulation is simply less painful with the latest laser beam technology. Following laser treatments, hemrrhoidal creams and donut-shaped pillows can be used to aid the recovery process. Since, the surgery can be performed on out patient basis and patient can go home same day, many patients and surgeons prefer hemorrhoid laser treatment over other treatments for curing external hemorrhoids.

Because of accuracy of laser probes the surgery is minimally invasive and controlled. A very small area gets affected. Due to greater accuracy the recovery is also very fast. With lot many advances taking place in lasers and their associated technologies, this method of hemorrhoid removal will find many takers in future.

Based on the size of hemorrhoid, laser beam can be a wide beam or a narrow beam. Wide laser beam is used to remove bigger masses which narrow beam is used to make small cuts. Laser coagulation method, which was practiced earlier used to cause lost of discomfort and pain. But now with laser beam clinical precision has been obtained and the process itself has become less cumbersome. But hemorrhoid laser treatment is not always the first treatment. Rather it is one of the last treatments. People tend to shy away from this treatment as the same is very expensive and has to be performed by expert surgeons. An untrained and unskilled surgeon may cause more harm if the laser beam is not directed properly. Since it is expensive and trained surgeons are few it is always suggested that one may explore other options first and resort to this expensive option.

Advantages:

• With sharp accuracy hemorrhoids are simply burnt away without leaving any trace.

• High accuracy leads to faster healing.

• Less discomfort.

• Faster removal of hemorrhoid.

• Lesser complications

Disadvantages

• Only external hemorrhoids can be treated.

• Complications like infection, over correction and under corrections can still be there.

• Expensive

• Needs to be done by expert and trained surgeons

Do You Have a Thrombosed Or Clotted Hemorrhoid?

By Dustin Olenslager

If you've never heard of a thrombosed or clotted hemorrhoid then you probably have no idea what causes it. The thrombosed or clotted hemorrhoid is a hemorrhoid that is clotted on the inside of the anal cavity. Although everybody usually, literally refers to it as a hemorrhoid it is often not said to be one until the conditions exist, because most people need for it to become visible either to the touch or to sight to consider it a problem. The irony is that it hurts but people don't think about it till they have visual or kinesthetic proof.

When one is said to have a thrombosed or clotted hemorrhoid this is describing a condition where the veins are being strangled in the anal area, causing a sort of suffocation of the blood flow in that area. A thrombosed or clotted hemorrhoid can be treated through a series of things such as a warm bath, herbal supplements, and creams to name just a few.

When people say hemorrhoid they are usually referring to the symptoms and not the actual physical ailment. Although the thrombosed or clotted hemorrhoid is actually a physical thing in the body that becomes inflamed, swollen, choking the blood vessels attached to the anus that assist in helping one's bowel movement, the actual term hemorrhoid is describing the symptoms more than anything else.

If you find yourself afflicted with a thrombosed or clotted hemorrhoid, it's in your best interest to see your doctor as soon as possible for treatment and to make sure you don't have something more serious. Simply having a thrombosed or clotted hemorrhoid is no cause for alarm it is better to be safe than sorry not to mention seeing your doctor will help you figure out how to alleviate it before it gets worse.

One thing to think about is that a thrombosed or clotted hemorrhoid does not necessarily mean any surgery is needed but if left untreated it could get worse the point where it may eventually need surgery, so it's best to be sure and to see a doctor immediately to be safe.

Doctors have a lot of knowledge that many of us don't have and may know where to look, can determine from your level or description of pain, and other factors we may not know to think about. Any time you're dealing with a thrombosed or clotted hemorrhoid you should not take chances. The difference between needing surgery and finding a less invasive cure is catching it early!

Hemorrhoid Treatments

By Robert Kokoska

Hemorrhoids, also known as piles, appear as a result of swollen veins in and around the anus and rectum. Hemorrhoids may appear as a result of pushing or straining during a bowel movement, heavy lifting, or pushing during child birth. They are a very common condition across all ages and stages of life and are most commonly treated with over the counter medications.

Assessing the Symptoms of the Hemorrhoid

Many people have hemorrhoids but are oblivious to the fact they are present. The smallest of hemorrhoids can go undetected for an entire lifetime exhibiting few to no symptoms at all. For larger hemorrhoids the most common symptoms are divided between the two types of hemorrhoids. Internal hemorrhoids often present bleeding during bowel movements as the primary symptom. Once the hemorrhoid is pushed out of the anal opening, hemorrhoid prolapsed, pain and itching may occur, as well as irritation during or after bowel movement.

Treatments for Hemorrhoids

Most hemorrhoids can be treated effectively with over the counter medications. These medications include a numbing lotion, to stop the pain associated with inflammation of the hemorrhoid and a shrinking medication. The shrinking medication will help the hemorrhoid to cause less irritation and pain, as well.

In the case of severe internal or external hemorrhoids, the doctor involved in treatment may suggest a surgical removal of the hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoid treatments involving surgery will include rubber band ligation, sclerotherapy, infrared light, and stapling.

Rubber band ligation is an in office procedure completed by the doctor. During the procedure, the doctor will place two small rubber bands around the base of the hemorrhoid. The hemorrhoid will be devoid of blood and will eventually fall off.

Sclerotherapy involves the injection of a chemical around the hemorrhoid. This chemical forces the constriction of blood vessels feeding the hemorrhoid. This hemorrhoid treatment causes the hemorrhoid to shrink.

Infrared light is used to "zap" internal hemorrhoids. The light bursts cut off the blood supply to the hemorrhoid.

Stapling is a hemorrhoid treatment also used to cut off the blood supply from the hemorrhoid. Once the blood supply is cut off, the hemorrhoid will shrink and at times fall off. This procedure can be less painful than surgical removal, but there is a higher risk of prolapse or recurrence.

Alternative Hemorrhoid Treatments

There are also alternative medicinal treatments available for hemorrhoid treatments. These include fiber, bioflavonoids, and witch hazel. Fiber is used to soften the bowel movements that may irritate internal hemorrhoids or force an internal hemorrhoid to prolapse. Bioflavonoids are derived from natural plant sources and work to reduce the inflammation of the hemorrhoid. Witch hazel, an astringent, can be used to reduce hemorrhoid bleeding, relieve pain, reduce itching and swelling.

Most hemorrhoid treatments are of the over the counter variety. In the case of severe hemorrhoid bleeding or prolapsed of a large hemorrhoid, surgery may be needed to treat the hemorrhoid or remove the hemorrhoid from the anus or rectum. All cases of hemorrhoids that exhibit bleeding as a symptom should be looked into by a physician.
